Finnish Spitz Dog Names

Even though the Finnish Spitz is a very vocal breed, they are also a very dedicated and intuitive breed and do well as therapy dogs. Finkies are demanding but not to the point of being pushy. They seem to understand the healing process and are willing to reach and connect with those in need. Ricky, the Finnish Spitz, is a certified therapy dog and has comforted hundreds of people suffering from all different types of ailments. Ricky, also known as Champion Maru’s Ricky Raccoon, THD, is owned by Anita Thomas. Anita has been a breeder and exhibitor of the Finnish Spitz since 1973. Ricky was the first Finnish Spitz to earn herding and therapy titles. Anita is also a long-standing member of the Finnish Spitz Club of America and held several positions within the club including parliamentarian and show committee positions. Being an artist, Anita also created several original art pieces for the Finnish Spitz national specialty.

European champion Pikkinokka’s Ivy of Storm Valley, or Ivy for short, is another Finnish Spitz that has earned her therapy dog title. Ivy seems to understand which person needs her special touch when she enters a hospital or nursing home. She has a calm and loving nature that puts people immediately at ease. Ivy was born in Canada and now resides in the Netherlands with her family. Another Finnish Spitz that has worked tirelessly as a therapy dog is Mano or more formally International champion, grand champion-silver Mickywin’s Mainio Skandia, CGC. There are numerous Finkies that have earned therapy dog titles and are currently providing support in various ways to those in need. Many owners of Finkies claim that while their dog is willing to visit with all patients, the dog will pick which person or people they want to spend the most amount of time. When a Finnish Spitz is on a mission, they do not take orders until they have visited with the person they determined needed them the most. A well-trained therapy dog will calmly sit with patients and help calm them, the Finnish Spitz’s intense gaze has been known to calm people from across the room and their patience has helped stroke victims move their arms for the first time since their stroke. Therapy work is an excellent outlet for a Finnish Spitz and gives them a purpose. A dog without a purpose is many times a bored dog. Bored dogs will find things to entertain them and most times these things will cause their owner frustration.
