Eritrea Dog Names In Pop Culture
Daniel Teklehaymanot is a professional road racing cyclist from Eritrea. Along with the theme of names from Eritrea is another Daniel. Our spotlight canine Daniel is a dog that received media attention when he defied death. Found as a stray in Alabama in 2011, Daniel is a Beagle who was euthanized along with 18 other dogs at an animal shelter that was overcrowded. Apparently, when the animal control officer returned to the locked chamber after the euthanization, he found Daniel waiting at the door with his tail wagging, while the other dogs had passed away.
News of his amazing survival led to interest among charitable groups to help the pup rather than send him back to the gas chamber. He found a temporary home with Karen Rudolph, a woman who runs a rescue in West Tennessee. This is where he got the name Daniel, after the biblical story of Daniel who walked out of the lion’s den unharmed. Daniel also received a last name “Milagro”, which means “miracle” in Spanish, by Eleventh Hour Rescue. Rudolph took Daniel to the veterinarian, where the pup received a clean bill of health. According to Rudolph, Daniel not only survived the gas chamber, which is very unusual, he was not even sick. At only 20 pounds, Daniel was found to be underweight, with a slightly compromised immune system. Otherwise, his health was good. Fortunately, there was a lot of interest in adopting Daniel as a result of the publicity he received.
Ella Thomas is an Eritrean-American actress and model. A dog named Ella is quite popular on social media. Weighing four pounds, Ella Bean is a Yorkie mix that resides in Brooklyn. The pooch has her own closet of custom made dog clothes along with other key canine items. Ella’s “mom” works in the fashion industry and wanted a home that was clean and design-focused, while suiting the needs of her dogs (Louis Reginald, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel also resides in the home). The home includes cowhide rugs on the floor which are easier to clean than regular carpets, as well as gray dog steps that allow Ella to easily get up on the bed. Most important for Ella is her wardrobe, that even includes her own collection of handbags. With over 75,000 Instagram followers, Ella is a canine style influencer. It turns out life for Ella was not always so positive. A puppy-mill survivor, her “mom” found her in a New York City shelter where she was days away from being euthanized. Her social media account was initially created to bring awareness about puppy mill dogs and educate people on why they should choose to adopt.
Eritrea Dog Name Considerations
You have brought home your new canine companion and are getting to know them. Maybe you did not have a name in mind for your pup and assumed that as you got to know your dog, you would know what to name them. Only that has not happened yet. So now what?
It is not unusual to struggle when deciding on just the right name for your dog. Chances are you are looking for a name that not only suits your pup but has some meaning to you. And of course, since you will be calling the name for years to come, you would like it to be something you don’t think you will tire of. One way to go about finding ideas is to think of a place that has meaning to you. For example, take a look at Eritrea, a country located in the Horn of Africa. Within the country, you are sure to find unique name possibilities in the nation’s cities, towns, rivers, mountains, popular food, famous people and more.
Consider a name from Eritrea and your pup will have a unique moniker while you enjoy regular reminders of a special place each time you call for your pup.
