Introduction
The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is a long-backed, agile dog with boundless energy and enthusiasm. This breed can be unsure of strangers and will become aggressive towards anyone who threatens their family. The Entlebucher Mountain Dog must be properly socialized in order for them to become well-rounded members of the family. They are excellent with older kids but should be closely watched when with younger children. Because of their self-confidence, this breed needs to know that there is a strong leader in the home they will take that position. They do require a significant amount of daily exercise. The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is not the right breed for everyone.
Entlebucher Mountain Dog Names In Pop Culture
The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is becoming more recognizable since they were first seen at the Westminster Kennel Club’s annual dog show in 2012. They were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2011 and Koda, GCH Silver Jumanji v Brunswick CGC RA was the first Entlebucher Mountain Dog to win best of breed at the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show held in Orlando, Florida. Koda also won best of breed at the 2012 Westminster Kennel Club dog show held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He also was the number one Entlebucher Mountain Dog in the country in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Koda was the first Entlebucher Mountain Dog to earn his grand championship in silver and also was the best of breed winner at the Entlebucher Mountain Dog national specialty show in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Outside of the conformation ring, Koda has sired multiple AKC champions, grand champions, bronze, silver, and gold grand champions. He is not just a pretty dog that fits well to the breed standard; he has also titles in agility and nose work. Koda has since passed away; however, his influence over the breeding stock in North America is still strong.
Koda’s son, Neo, has been following in his footsteps. Neo, or more formally GCH in Silver Neo Brunswick CGC RN TKP, is owned by Rebecca Hahn DVM, Jay Schuff DVM, and Tina Lilliedoll. He won best of breed at the Entlebucher Mountain Dog national specialty in 2018. Neo has been the number one owner handled Entlebucher Mountain Dog in 2016 and 2017. He also has won best of breed at the Westminster Kennel Club’s 2018 dog show. Neo competed at the 2016 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show and won best of breed. Also in 2016, he won best of breed at the Owner Handler National Championships. Neo became the first Entlebucher Mountain Dog to win five owner handled best in shows and was the first one of his breed to win three AKC group firsts. Aside from competing in the conformation ring, Neo likes to show off his bag of tricks and in 2017 competed in the AKC Trick Dog Performer show and the AKC Achiever Dog competition. Neo loves to dance and busted out a move on the Dogs Can Dance Freestyle Team, helping with the championship. The National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association (NEMDA) awarded Neo the Beginning Versatility Award. This award is given to dogs that have earned titles in at least three dog sports.
