Introduction
Dog Names that Start with the L Sound in Pop Culture
Elle is a Pit Bull who works as a therapy dog in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She also has her own reading program named “Tail Wagging Tales” that her owner, Leah Brewer, started several years ago. Elle and Leah travel to schools, hospitals, and homes all over to educate people about canine safety and help people get over their fear of dogs.
Part of the reason that Elle is so good for this role is her breed, which is greatly misunderstood by many. The Pit Bull, or American Pit Bull Terrier, is often blamed for being an aggressive or vicious breed when this is absolutely, pawsitively not true. In fact, the American Pit Bull Foundation found that in tests conducted by the American Temperament Test Society that these “ferocious” fur babies had a passing rate of 82% compared to the 77% score of the typical canine companion.
Elle was chosen to be part of Leah Brewer’s family after she lost her 15-year old Pit Bull, Baron. She saw a photo of the pretty pooch on the internet and noticed that she needed a home, so she decided to adopt her. Leah had no idea what a difference Elle would make in her life. One day, she did something that proved to Leah that she was smart and intuitive. While walking in the neighborhood one of her elderly neighbors came to talk to her, and although Leah did not tell her to, Elle was sitting politely next to her and not jumping on the man.
Afterward, Leah took her to get her AKC Canine Good Citizen test and got her registered as a Therapy Dog. Soon after, they started visiting children at the public library and local elementary school, helping children learn to read better and to understand how to properly approach a dog. The pair also visits retirement centers and nursing homes, hospitals, and even homeless shelters to provide tips on how to treat animals and avoid being bitten by a strange pooch if one is around. Elle and Leah were also asked to attend the Relay For Life, which is a fundraising run to help fight cancer.
Elle has become somewhat of a superstar with features in several magazines such as American Dog Magazine and National Geographic Kids, and she has been on the Today Show, is the role model for IncrediBULL Superhero, and the Ambassador for Cosequin. She even has her own holiday called “Hero Dog Elle Day” on October first every year. Elle was also the 2013 American Hero Dog Award Winner in the Humane Society Hero Dog Award Contest, and she pawsitively deserves it.
Dog Name that Starts with the L Sound Considerations
A lot of new pooch owners have their dog’s name picked out before they even have the dog. While that is okay for some, if you want a moniker that truly fits your pupster, you should spend a few days or weeks getting to know your furbaby before you pick a name. Their habits and personality may be able to give you a great idea for a name such as Electro for a hyper pooch, Elude for the dog who is always getting away from you, and maybe Elvis or Elton for the doggo who loves to sing.
Some new furbuddy owners also choose a title for their babies by what they look like. Fur example, Elk or Elefanto are both perfect for a huge pooch, Elf or Elfin are wonderful for a petite pup, and Elmo is perfect for a red dog. Elianna is the Latin word for sun and great for a yellow dog while Eldora is Spanish and Old German for covered in gold, which would be pawesome for a gold poochie.
Many pet parents will consider letters or a combination of letters to find the right dog tag. If you are looking to work within a certain theme, such as names that start with the L sound, you can consider any of the names that we have listed. No matter what moniker you choose for your new furry furiend, make sure you like it because you will probably be saying it a lot over the next decade or so.
