Dog Names That Start With Or in Pop Culture
Our first pop culture featured pooch is Orla, a Cockapoo who is an inspiration to all dogs and humans having a hard time. One day, Orla was walking through the park when she had a terrible encounter with an industrial lawnmower. Orla suffered lacerations of muscles and tendons in her forearm, and some of her bones were crushed. Her foot had nearly been severed from her body. While the foot and leg so badly damaged, the veterinarians decided that they couldn't save the paw, but they thought they could give Orla a prosthetic. The only other option was to amputate the entire leg. With a little care and extra work, the veterinarians used metal to reassemble the leg as much as possible. They then waited for the arm to heal and created a prosthetic foot, which allows Orla to get around.
We have another Orla as our second featured famous dog. This Orla, a Daschund, is famous for helping an elderly woman named Winifred as she copes with dementia. Dementia and other health issues make it hard for Winifred to enjoy life, but with the help of Orla, her days are generally better. Since Winifred doesn't have the capacity to own a dog, Orla visits every few days as part of a "borrow my doggy" program. Orla doesn't have to do much to bring joy to Winifred's life. Generally, the pooch just sits on Winifred's lap and gets little goodies. Unfortunately, Winifred doesn't always remember giving little treats, so the pair needs to be watched to ensure that Orla doesn't get too much, as she was gaining a lot of weight for a while. Winifred also loves to hold Orla like a baby. Orla is also like family to the rest of Winifred's family, as well as her owner Ann, who brings her by. Orla is really changing lives.
