Introduction
Everyone knows that ‘Ok’ is the way you tell someone that you are happy or in agreeance about something. But did you know it can form the beginning of names? Dog names that start with Ok are growing in popularity, with more people thinking outside the square before giving their new family members a name.
There are many reasons why people might look for dog names that start with Ok. They might tire of hearing the same old dog names like Spot, or they could associate it with their culture, country, or a moment in time. Whatever the reason, you will be happy to know there are several options available.
Dog Names that Start with Ok in Pop Culture
There is something quite appealing about giving your dog a name the same as another in pop culture. Not only can you provide them with a name you like, but you can then tell people you got inspiration from another dog like it in a movie, TV show, or a celebrity dog. There are a few dogs that meet that criteria: Okan and Okie.
Okan is becoming a popular dog name that starts with Ok but is also Manchester City star Raheem Sterling’s dog. Raheem bought Okan, a Rottweiler, for £15,000 back in October 2018, to protect his family. Why the high price tag? Okan comes from a specialist protection firm, making him suitable for protecting Raheem’s family when he’s not home at their multi-million-dollar mansion.
Okan comes from the same company that supplied Italian Mastiffs to West Ham striker Andy Carroll and an Alsatian for Manchester United defender Phil Jones.
Raheem bought Okan, the lovable Rottweiler, after his fiancé Paige Milian came home to find a man in their Cheshire mansion. He had smashed a window at the rear of the property and fled with valuables. No one was home at the time he broke in.
Following the break-in, Raheem not only splashed out on the family’s new furry friend but 24/7 security as well. While Okan is a staunch and intimidating dog, he’s also now a much-loved family pet. Raheem posted pictures on his Instagram showing Okan dressed up in Halloween gear, reiterating that Okan is a dog with a job to do, but they care for him too.
Even though Okan is a guard dog, other Instagram and promotional photos show Raheem on the family’s front lawn with the couple’s son standing on one side of Raheem, and Okan on the other. He is clearly at ease in a family environment.
Okie is also another dog with a name starting with Ok. Okie is the name of a famous Labrador on YouTube that racked up over 25,000 views sitting at the YouTube video creator’s dinner table. The video shows the dog sitting in front of the person, wearing a sweatshirt and appearing to have human arms. The dog with the human limbs proceeds to feed himself.
Okie is quite a famous name, as he is also a dog that appeared on Oklahoma Channel 4 news as the face of obedience classes starting up at Myriad Botanical Gardens back in 2013. Emily, his owner, said Okie would learn how to sit, stay, come when called, and walk on a leash.
Dog Name that Starts with Ok Considerations
Before you register your dog with their new name, take a moment to consider whether you have chosen the right one. Because there are so many dog names that start with Ok, you may have rushed into the process – too excited by how many options there were.
The truth is, there are many things to consider, including the meaning of the word or name you are using, your dog’s personality, and their gender. The gender is an essential consideration for sex-specific dog names that start with Ok. There are going to be many names that suit both genders, but a name like Okeli, for example, is purely for a male. It means a boy born on Orie in African.
Some dog names that begin with Ok also have specific meanings that may or may not relate to your dog’s personality. Take Okemos, a name that means little chief. Is your dog a boss or a leader? If they are more of a follower, such a dominant name might not apply.
Or, what about the name Oken? This name is suitable for male dogs but means ‘resembling a horse’ in Turkish. If your dog is quite tall or large, then you might find it’s the perfect match! Take the time to consider many points before settling on the best name.
