Introduction
Have you recently found yourself surrounded by new obligations resulting from the addition of a new furry, frisky friend, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the combined love and neediness of that cute, cuddly canine? While there are many new duties for which you are now responsible, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can share some of those new obligations with family members; like teaching the kids the feeding regimen and the exercise routine, and the task of picking the name for your precious pawed playmate can also be shared.
Dog Names that Start with 'Ko' in Pop Culture
While the imaginations of talented people produce some incredible works of literature, song, and film, sometimes real-life stories tell stories that are much more touching and endearing. And, sometimes, books become films and films become television series or specials, all for our entertainment and education. Our pop culture spotlight today is Koko, and his story is true, demonstrating some remarkable traits commonly overlooked in the canine species.
Koko is an Australian Kelpie, born in 2005 in Victoria, Australia. Breeders Carol and Len Hobday worked with him to train him for dog show competition, and in 2006 awarded the Best Exhibiting Group, Working Dog award. This award represented a departure from the norm as bestowed upon a dog from that group who was so young, but alas, that’s as far as he went in the dog show arena.
But, that’s not the end of our pop culture dog, not by a long shot! He came into his own when he was cast and starred in a film titled Red Dog, which is a true story about another Australian Kelpie. In this role, Koko played an Australian Red Cloud Kelpie who was born in 1971 and lived his life in Australia’s Western Pilbara region. "Red Dog,” wandered from village to village, frequently stopping traffic by deliberately walking into the path of oncoming vehicles, jumping into the stopped car and accompanying the driver to the various destinations to which they were traveling.
In the role of Red Dog, Koko was required to demonstrate the love, kindness, loyalty, and dependability that we dog lovers know to be oh, so strong in that species, traits that his real-life owner, Producer Nelson Woss, says were very prevalent in his family pet. Woss watched Koko unite people and communities as he toured the country with his precious pet, after the release of Red Dog the movie in 2011. Koko was so endearing in his Red Dog role as well as in his real-life personality, prompting Woss to make a new Red Dog film, but he called it The Koko Story, releasing it in 2016, four years after Koko’s death.
Dog Name that Starts with 'Ko' Considerations
While, admittedly, the vast potential of possible monikers for that playful pup makes the task seem overwhelming, reducing it makes it more efficient to manage. This assignment, like any other difficult one, is doable when approached with a plan. Helping you to develop a strategy is the purpose of this guide, giving you suggestions to stimulate your natural creative genius into action. While some pet owners choose names relating to the breed of their pet, or choose a title by considering the color or other coat characteristics, still, other pet parents utilize the alphabet in a variety of ways, like only considering names that begin, end or contain specific letter combinations. These are undoubtedly good ways to glean the needed list of names, but there are others, like looking at family first names, or nicknames given by your friends to their pets, or even perhaps, the exploration of words that start with ‘Ko’ to generate an inventory of tags that will suit your new addition perfectly!
