Dog Names that Start with Ho

Sometimes, we get our reading entertainment in the most unusual of ways, and sometimes, those ways are interactive, while at other times, you just read.  And, those reading opportunities aren’t always adult books or works that would commonly be of interest to adults. Some of you who are like us, you tend to get deeply involved in certain books, especially those that are works of fiction, and sometimes, those books may seem a bit juvenile. In other instances, the books might be those that entertain and educate others.  

If you have children, and you read to them, then you may be acquainted with our pop culture spotlight for today.  His name is Howie, and he is a gullible wire-haired Dachshund found in the Bunnicula Children’s series of books. He is the offspring of Howard and Heather and suspected of being a part werewolf by Chester, a strange and ever-vigilant cat.  The series, written by Deborah Howe and James Howe, is centered around a human family named Monroe with the story told from the perspective of their dog.  The children’s series contains seven books with a variety of hilarious situations involving Harold, the dog, Howie the pup, Chester the cat and Bunnicula, the vampire rabbit.  Yes, I said “vampire rabbit,” but, fear not, Bunnicula sucks the juice from veggies and is otherwise harmless. It is this particular style of eating by Bunnicula that generates quite a variety of events involving this unlikely group, with the suspicion and nosy nature of Chester being at the core of them.  The spin-off series of books called Tales from the House of Bunnicula is “written” by Howie the pup and will genuinely entertain you and your kids. 

The creativity with which the books were written and illustrated will amaze as well as entertain you, with some of the books being interactive in a non-digital way.  For example, in the book Bunnicula Escapes!: A Pop Up Adventure, you will find several places in it which allow flaps to be opened, allowing sudden and exciting changes to take place in the story. Many of these delightful stories will capture the “child” in you and sweep you away in their imaginary world.
