Dog Names that Start with Go

Canines can bring so much more to our lives, especially regarding love, devotion, and unconditional acceptance, teaching us some fundamental human values in ways we don’t realize.  A family dog is one who loves their human family unit, and unless they sense danger afoot, they generally also accept those embraced by those they love.  If one takes the time to notice with an open mind and heart, you will notice how their unconditional love, loyalty, and protection are displayed for all to see.  They can teach us lessons that are sometimes not available to us through any other means.  They show us how to love and live.

Our pop culture spotlight today is Goliath.  Goliath is a character from a children’s TV series called Davey and Goliath, broadcast during the 1950’s and 1960’s on virtually every continent except Antarctica.  Though he is a fictional stop-action form of animation similar to the character, Gumby, whom many of us remember warmly from our childhood, he fills the role of “conscience” to Davey.  Davey is a normal all American boy, active and outgoing in sports and many outdoor activities.  Accompanied by Goliath, his canine companion proves to be something that every boy and girl needs. Not only is Goliath companion to Davey, but he is also his “conscience,” talking Davey through life, though his “voice” only heard by Davey.  Throughout the 65 episodes of its extensive media life, this children’s program taught us some essential principles of life.  These 15-minute episodes, as well as the six half-hour specials that aired, showed children how to care for the environment around them, how to accept other people regardless of race, status in life or behavior and how to be responsible humans, and it did so in a faith-based and entertaining manner.  These doll-like figures incorporated the use of animated faces to convey the stories, the messages, and the lessons to be learned. This faith-based affirmation enabled children as well as adults to learn some basic, vital principles, not only endeared the characters to millions of viewers over the years of its broadcast but also earning the program several Gabriel Awards, being broadcast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
