Introduction
There are so many new and exciting things to do now that you’ve brought home your newest four-legged, furry family member! Are the kids driving you crazy yet? If not, fear not, that will happen soon enough as they find a myriad of ways to expend all of the pent-up exuberance associated with that new pup. And, how about your excitement? Having a tiny, loving little lapful of fur to cuddle and care for is a joy for all, to be sure, but what about those new responsibilities that have befallen you? How about the name for that new pet?
Dog Names that Start with 'Gl' in Pop Culture
In the world of children’s books, there exists a wide range of methods by which our little ones are educated, some incorporating the written word solely as a means to teach, while others employ graphic illustrations with or without the aid of the written word, to reach a younger reading audience with their message. These literary works, containing some very contemporary lessons woven into the text and graphics, are quite entertaining regardless of your level of reading or understanding. Our pop culture spotlight today is one such book about a delightfully intuitive dog named Gloria.
Gloria becomes the sidekick of Officer Buckle, a safety specialist who makes routine visits to schools to teach children how to live with less danger. In the book Officer Buckle and Gloria, our hero, Officer Buckle, makes frequent visits to Napville Elementary School to talk to and teach the kids. Presenting his program on stage at the school, however, doesn’t always turn out as he’d like, the children falling asleep from boredom. Officer Buckle takes on a partner in this endeavor - a dog named Gloria. She accompanies Officer Buckle to the school, positioning her behind him on the stage while he gives his normal boring presentation.
Something incredible happens on the first such visit to the school - the kids don’t fall asleep! They are excitedly interacting as he proceeds through his prepared material on safety, with no knowledge of what was taking place behind him on the stage! While Officer Buckle was pointing out specific safety issues, Gloria was “performing” behind him, demonstrating some action associated with the safety issue mentioned by Officer Buckle.
Though Gloria was always sitting at attention when Officer Buckle looked back to check on her, unaware of Gloria’s behavior behind him, he went on with his programs with each visit, gaining more confidence with each session - until, on one particular visit Officer Buckle’s safety lesson was videotaped. Watching the video later, he saw Gloria’s antics and became very depressed when he realized what had gotten and maintained the children’s attention - Gloria’s behavior. Gloria, on the other hand, became quite prideful of her success, so prideful was she that she tried to perform on her own and flopped! When both Officer Buckle and Gloria realized that they needed each other to be successful, they regained and exceeded their previous positions, stressing and demonstrating the need to work together.
Dog Name that Starts with 'Gl' Considerations
Sometimes these new responsibilities can cause a bit of trepidation for some new pet owners. The market is filled with choices about food and snacks to feed, toys to buy and even clothing for your darling doggie. An even bigger “market” exists in the realm of potential names for your new playful, pawed pup, and it strikes fear in the hearts of many of those new to pet parenting. While we readily admit that the field of potential labels for your new furry family member is immense, the task of choosing the perfect name is not impossible - especially if you approach it with a planned attack! Many parents of pawed playmates consider their favorite funny movie or book as a source for names, while others who have added new frolicking friends to their families utilize the alphabet for those same clues. They employ the alphabet to look only at words that begin or end with specific letters or combinations thereof to pick a tag for their pup's collar. May we at Wag! suggest exploration of dog names that start with ‘Gl?’
