Introduction
Dog Names that Start with 'Ge' in Pop Culture
The love and loyalty that seems to be built into most canine breeds never cease to amaze us. It is the combination of these two traits which make up the depth of courage and bravery they possess and willingly exhibit as they interact with us. These traits enable dogs to protect, guide and warn us of impending danger, even if doing so means sacrificing their lives for those they love.
If you look at canines down through the annals of time, it doesn't take rocket science to see how many times human lives have been saved because of the loyalty, love, and bravery of a canine. This is the case with George, our pop culture spotlight dog today.
George is a Jack Russell Terrier from New Zealand who gave his life to save others. On April 29, 2007, George was playing with some neighboring children, whose ages ranged from three years to twelve years, something he frequently enjoyed. They lived in a small town in the Taranaki region in the west of New Zealand called Manaia, and on this particular date, they were coming home from one of the local shops. On this trek, George and the five children were accosted by a couple of vicious Pit Bulls in the neighborhood. George bravely rushed the Pit Bulls, deflecting their attention from the children, allowing them to run away. The oldest one of the children recounts the details of the day by saying that the vicious dogs rushed them from behind, trying to get the youngest of the children, a four-year-old boy. George got between the children and the attacking dogs, barking and trying to push them away.
The canine attackers began to bite George, one biting him on the head and one biting him on the back. The children got away and alerted some passersby and neighbors of the situation. They intervened on George’s behalf, but not before the nine-year-old canine was severely injured. So severe were George’s injuries that his owner, a 69-year old man named Alan Gay, was faced with the saddest and most heart-rending decision any animal owner could ever have to make. His precious pup was so severely injured that, when the vet called him to apprise him of the injuries of his dog, he opted to have George put down. George was well-honored with a memorial, awards, and recognition of his sacrifice for those five children.
Dog Name that Starts with 'Ge' Considerations
While most of the new assignments which accompany the purchase of a new frisky family member are fun or relatively easy to work into your schedule and lifestyle, the one that many pet owners routinely put off is that of picking the perfect prenomen for their precious playful pup. Why do you ask? The reason usually involves the seemingly limitless number of name potentials which exist, but we can attest the playing field is leveled when you have a plan. Just think of the pleasantness of the sound of calling your playful "pawmate" by the name of your favorite flower, or how delightfully delectable is the sound of your favorite dessert ... umm cherry cheesecake, for example. Do you have a pup with a fawn or golden coat that you might call "Blondie" or "Sunshine," or a tiny pooch who might like the label of "Hugo" or "Goliath?" We, at Wag!, would like it to be fun and perhaps even a family project. May we suggest that you explore the alphabet and consider dog names that start with ‘Ge’?
