Introduction
Dog Names that Start with 'Ac' in Pop Culture
Many of the pop culture pups featured in the Wag! name guides tell us of the remarkable intelligence and resiliency of canines. One such dog is Acorn, a Cleveland Pit Bull who needed a break from life in a kennel as he awaited adoption. Volunteer dog walker Mary Motley was asked to take Acorn home for this break. When she did, she made a discovery that changed both her life and that of Acorn's.
Acorn was very hyper and was not listening to instructions or commands at all when he first came to stay with Mary. When awaking Acorn the first morning of his stay with her, he did not respond to her voice when she went to wake him. Mary told City Dogs Cleveland that she suspected he was deaf; a veterinarian visit confirmed this.
Mary taught Acorn sign language for basic commands, which he learned in one week! And obedience classes soon after proved his remarkable intelligence and willingness to learn. This lovable canine adores outdoor activities including swimming and playing in the mud.
Now a beloved member of her family, Acorn has changed Mary's life for the better and she has indeed changed his also. He is now an advocate for deaf dogs and his Facebook page Deafinitely Awesome - The Adventures of Acorn shows just how cool and sweet deaf dogs can be when given the chance to learn.
Our second canine spotlight is Ace, the Bat-Hound of the DC comic series of Batman. Ace was a German Shepherd Dog who was initially owned by John Wilker, who was an engraver. Ace came into the lives of Batman and Robin during a rescue of his owner, John Wilker, displaying noteworthy fierceness, loyalty, and bravery as he suffered beatings by the kidnapping thugs to come to the aid of his master.
Through a series of situations which included John Wilker, which separated Ace from him, the dog became a trusted companion of the Dynamic Duo and appeared in some episodes and comic series during the 1950's and 1960's. He disappeared from the comic series in 1964, after being happily involved in many of the Dynamic Duo's escapades.
Dog Name that Starts with 'Ac' Considerations
Since the moniker by which you address your pet for the rest of their lives is as important as our names, Wag! wants to help remove some of the burden and stress associated with this assignment. Some pet owners will use the coat color or texture of their cute new addition, their gender or size, or even behaviors and personality traits they've noticed in them to trigger name possibilities. Still, other pet parents will utilize the alphabet to generate those clues; for example, only considering names that begin with specific letters or that are only two syllables in length. We at Wag! are suggesting looking at dog names that start with 'Ac' to stimulate those creative juices.
