Axl? Axl Rose? The lead singer of Guns’n’Roses? He is the opposite of serene, how can that be a good name for a dog?! Calm down, calm down (pun intended). We are not talking about the wild and crazy singer, no no, today, we are honoring a completely different Axl, the adorable little doggo that broke the Internet with his adorableness.

How did Axl earn his Internet cred?  When his owner, the Imgur user rayzer12, recorded the pup’s growth in a very original manner, the people were here for it! The nameless owner first showed Axl when he was just 7 and a half weeks old and posted photos of the adorable doggo throughout his growth, up to his first birthday. But, what is so special about this, don’t we all do that? As a dog owner, you are probably aware of the fact that your beloved puppo likes to follow you around wherever you go, even to the place where the king goes to on foot (bathroom, little boy’s/girl’s room, the loo, the porcelain throne). Inspired by this, Imgur user rayzer12 decided to showcase his puppy’s clinginess by posting the photos of Axl following him to the bathroom every day and resting peacefully inside his underwear. The hilariousness of this experiment lies in the fact that the pup got progressively larger in size, barely fitting in his owner’s underwear by week 12 but nevertheless not giving up on the newly bestowed tradition between them. Several Imgur users have cracked some fantastic jokes in the comment section making the post go viral and be published on several major portals, skyrocketing little Axl to fame.

When there are puppies like Axl in the world, who can feel stressed? When your doggo greets you when you come home, don’t all the negative feelings and all anxiety simply disappear? Well, incidentally, Axl’s name bears the meaning of serenity, tranquility, and peace. The name originated from the masculine name Axel, which then originated from the Scandinavian name Aksel, and the biblical name Absalom (whoa! Such etymology!). The name Absalom is derived from the Hebrew word ‘abshālōm, which translates to “the father of peace”. Even though our little, or, not so little anymore, Axl is not a father, he and dogs around the world are the bringers of peace. They can make even the toughest of people smile and pet them lovingly and forget about their worries if only for a little while.
