She started to care for the pooch while working closely with a veterinarian to monitor his health and weight loss success. Fitness trainer Sharon Anderson also offered assistance. Fat Vincent was immediately enrolled in water aerobics. Water aerobics is an extremely helpful exercise for pups who carry excessive weight because the dog can float, reducing strain on joints and limbs. Fat Vincent started losing weight and was able to go for walks which furthered his weight loss efforts. The dog quickly developed an affinity for his new range of motion and immediately wanted to go for walks. He would wait at the door anxiously weighting to head outside for his long-anticipated walk. Fat Vincent was truly enjoying the new found freedom of dropping the unwanted pounds which helped increased his mobility.

Within eight months, Fat Vincent effectively dropped his unwanted weight and ended up a slim 17 pounds. His cholesterol levels returned to normal and his energy was restored. His dramatic weight loss has quickly made him a nationwide celebrity. Many people consider him a poster pup to advocate weight loss in pets.
