Dog Names Meaning Fortunate

Names related to the word “fortunate” are fairly popular among the dog community. The most commonly used name is probably “Lucky.” Whenever we hear a dog owner calling their dog by the name “Lucky,” a number of dogs come into mind. This is most likely because there are several famous canines who are named Lucky. Dr. Dolittle is an American fantasy-comedy film first released in the late 1990’s. The film’s main protagonist is Dr. John Dollitle, a surgeon who resides in San Francisco. The character is played by famous actor and comedian Eddie Murphy.

The plot follows the story of Dr. Dolittle and his peculiar ability to understand and speak to all animals. Although John totally forgot his strange ability as he grew up, he slowly rediscovers it after he hears his pet guinea pig, Rodney, trying to talk to him. At first, he suspected himself of merely having a mental breakdown but upon hearing and understanding other animals, he begins to accept the truth.

In the beginning of the film, John was on his way to meet one of his patients and pick up his guinea pig when he accidentally hit a stray dog. Later on in the film, John decides to adopt the dog and named him Lucky, a name that perfectly reflects the status of the canine after been nearly killed by John’s driving. Since then, John grew closer and closer to Lucky; his bond with his newly adopted canine became stronger and the two became inseparable. This owner-dog relationship played an imperative role to the film’s overall flow. Scenes of the film would almost always include John talking to his new best friend, Lucky.

In the film, Lucky can be seen moving his mouth in a way that looks like it’s the work of CGI. However, according to the dog’s trainer, he was actually moving his mouth in reality. Lucky’s character is played by a canine named “Sam.” Sam was trained by his owner-slash-trainer to move his mouth in a way that will make him appear that he’s actually talking for real. The staff of the film refer to Sam as a smart and easily-instructed dog. His role in Dr. Dolittle as Lucky will always be remembered by the fans of the franchise.
