Dog Names Meaning Delightful

Norbert is a delightful 3 pound Chihuahua, Cairn Terrier and Lhasa Apso mix who is a registered therapy dog. The tiny little pooch lives in the thriving city of Los Angeles with his owner Julie Steines and her husband Mark Steines who is the star of, 'Home and Family'.  Mark refers to Norbert as a 'delightful little creature' because of the dog's ability to touch hearts of the patients at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. The hospital has more than 100 enrolled therapy dogs in the Amerman Family Foundation Dog Therapy Program but Norbert is the tiniest of all the pooches to bring companionship and joy. The small dog literally changes the energy in a room when he enters. Young patients light up with smiles and happiness when they are allowed to spend time with Norbert. 

When Norbert was only four months old, Julie Steines found an advertisement for the puppy. She was instantly moved and set out to adopt him. Julie knew Norbert was special from the minute she laid eyes on the diminutive pooch. She authored a children's book about the small dog titled, "Norbert: What Can Little Me Do?"  The book was published by Polly Parker Press. It won nine book awards that included the coveted Next Generation Indie Book Awards, Mom's Choice Award, Nautilus Book Awards, and the Ben Franklin Award.  

At the age of one, the tiny dog achieved therapy dog titles through Pet Partners organization, Canine Good Citizen, and R.E.A.D. with the Intermountain Therapy Animals Organization. The small pooch now volunteers at nursing homes, numerous hospitals, and other special events. During his appearances, thousands of copies of his picture books are donated along with plush toys that bear his resemblance. At his functions, he is even known to give high-fives. 

On October 10, 2017, Norbert's fourth book, "Norbert's Little Lessons for a Big Life" was released to much fanfare. For 2019, a Norbert calender is set to be published. The Norbert Mini-Plush is also scheduled for release in 2018. 

At seven years old, Norbert shows no signs of slowing down. The little fur ball continues to delight patients, fans, and children. The dog's social media fan club consists of 1.7 million individuals who love the cute pooch. They call themselves the Norberthood and they focus on spreading the joy and smiles of the tiny dog far and wide. 

Each month, it is estimated that the Norbert visits a 1,000 patients to bring them love and smiles. Norbert is just one of many therapy dogs around the world who delight the people they visit and assist.
