Dog Names Ending in wa

The first dog is Iowa. This impressive canine was in the spotlight years ago in the 1990s when he worked as a drug-sniffing dog in Miami, Florida. Iowa was well trained to cover the ports of Miami where drugs are often trafficked in and out on ships. One day, Iowa smelled something suspicious and he alerted his handlers. Sure enough, Iowa had discovered something major. Iowa had found 12 tons of cocaine aboard a ship. Not only was this discovery large but it also held great importance as it showed that the Cali cocaine cartel was growing bigger and employing new methods of smuggling drugs into the United States. 

Iowa's discovery turned into years of investigations, leading authorities down many rabbit holes and resulting in many legal battles. Eventually, two of the Cali cartel kingpins were apprehended in connection with drug trafficking and are now serving thirty-year prison sentences. In addition, over 141 other cartel members were charged or pleaded guilty. Iowa's discovery turned into one of the biggest drug busts in US history and it helped take down some important and dangerous people. Great job, Iowa!

Another dog with a name ending in "wa" is Jawa, a small dog who belongs to Nickayla Rivera, famous actress Naya Rivera's sister. Jawa is a 5 month old Boston Terrier who is simply adorable. In order to capture his cuteness, Rivera taught the dog how to give the perfect pose for the camera. Dressed in a tux, complete with a bow tie, the pup's picture can be seen all over social media. Jawa is pretty adorable!

One other dog named Jawa made the news in a more tragic way. Jawa was a racing Greyhound in Florida who was being kept in inhumane conditions, only let out when it was time to race. Jawa broke both his back legs racing and had to be put down. However, Jawa's life brought attention to the terrible practices of Florida's dog racing tracks. Many racing facilities are under investigation and officials are looking to ban or revamp dog racing in general. Hopefully, Jawa's tragic end will make a positive impact for future dogs.
