Introduction
There are many ways in which to choose a name for a new pup in your life. Many people choose to select a name that represents a function that the dog is supposed to fulfill or a trait that their owner would like to encourage, while others prefer names that remind the pet parent of something that makes them happy, like people or a place that they connect with. Some individuals find inspiration in favorite books, television shows, or movies as well, and still, others choose a name by making a list of names that contain the same letter or group of letters at either the beginning or end of the name. If you are looking for a name that ends with the letter grouping of "sa", this list may give you a few ideas.

The World’s Ugliest dog contest, conducted annually in Petaluma, California, has been crowning it’s lovable but unsightly canine champions since at least the year 2000 when mixed breed dog named Nana won the first two contests. The contest is meant to show that all of our canine companions, even those that have a physical appearance that doesn’t conform to our traditional idea of beauty, are worthy of our love and care. It is hosted by the Sonoma-Marin Fair, has been sponsored by Animal Planet for the last several years and generally provides opportunities to adopt rescue dogs in need. It is typically run toward the end of June and, as of the 2017 contest, the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog is presented with a check totaling one thousand five hundred dollars, a trophy, and a trip to New York City.
The winner of the 30th annual contest in 2018 was a nine-year-old English Bulldog with a severe underbite and upper teeth that were nearly horizontal, conditions that caused her to drool excessively and allowed her long fleshy tongue to hang out of the right side of her mouth, reaching almost to the ground. Her name was Zsa Zsa, after the Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, and she had traveled over thirty miles by car and had her toenails painted pink in order to participate in the international event, and she faced stiff competition, including second place winner Scamp, a dog of undetermined parentage, and third place winner Josie, a Chinese Crested mix. Her owner, Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota adopted her from the nonprofit Underdog Rescue, who purchased her from the puppy mill where she spent the first five years of her life.
The severe underbite and missing or misshapen teeth are somewhat common for English Bulldogs that are inbred or bred carelessly, as are difficulties breathing, skin infections, and problems with the joints. Megan, who also has two other dogs at home, a Pug and a French Bulldog, said that she knew Zsa Zsa was the right dog for her family as soon as she laid eyes on her, lolling tongue and all and the seemed to really soak in all of the attention that she got as a result of winning the contest. Zsa Zsa passed away peacefully in her sleep in July of 2018, while she was staying at Megan’s father’s house just weeks after she had earned her title.
Dog Name Ending in 'sa' Considerations
Other people may prefer to use a name which describes the dog's preferences or behaviors instead, selecting a name like Adisa, for a vocal dog, Nerissa, for a dog that loves to swim, or Vanessa for one that seems to float from place to place like a butterfly. Names can be chosen based on your dog's position in life as well, giving a therapy dog a name like Asa or Lanessa, while names like Lansa, or Luisa may be more appropriate for a dog slated to be a hunting hound.
