Dog Names Ending in 'og' in Pop Culture
Our second pop culture dog with a name ending in 'og' is Red Dog, the Pilbara wanderer. He is a Kelpie/Cattle dog who was born in 1971, given the name Tally Ho, in Paraburdoo, Australia and was very well known for his travels through western Australia's Pilbara region. He was so well-liked that they have erected a statue in his honor in Dempier, a town he frequently visited with his various owners, having been first taken there by his first owner, Colin Cummings, and given his nickname "Red Dog" after the red dirt common in the Pilbara region of Australia. His second owner, John Stazzoneli was a bus driver who took his dog with him as he traveled to many places. After John died in 1975, Red Dog continued to travel on his own for another 4 years, succumbing to poisoning in 1979. He met and was cared for by many community members and a veterinarian during this time and was well loved by many, many people with whom he came into contact.
