Introduction
There are very few things as exciting as welcoming a new pet into your household. You get to learn their personality, shower them with toys and love, and then look for a name that encompasses who they are and what you love about them.
That’s why many people may start looking for dog names ending in "oa". If you believe your new dog is a little bit special, as many people do, then you need a unique name to give them. Dog names ending in "oa" can often fit that bill. Before you find what you believe to be the perfect name, however, consider the following information. It could end up swaying your decision.
Dog Names Ending in 'oa' in Pop Culture
Once you factor in all the considerations you need to make, with your new puppy watching on, you may begin to wonder whether there are other dogs in pop culture that share the same name. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to tell people you named your dog after a famous one on TV, or that they share the same name?
That’s what can happen if you call your dog Noa. Noa is a fictional Labrador Retriever from the 2004-2010 Japanese Manga series called Inubaka: Crazy for Dogs. The Inubaka translation means ‘Dog Idiot.’
The series followed a young and very sheltered girl with parents that controlled her for much of her life. She also had a loyal dog called Lupin. The girl, Suguri, wanted to move from the country to the big city of Tokyo. However, after her dog mates with another, potentially ruining the chances of purebred puppies, Suguri offers to work at the pet store to make up for it. The series, from this point, follows several adventures and canine antics.
That’s where Noa comes in. Noa belongs to Teppei, the pet store owner. He purchased her while he was still in school. Noa is also the dog with which Lupin mated. Even though a pregnancy never happened, Lupin was not allowed to go near Noa in case it happened again. Lupin would otherwise ruin the chances of a pure bloodline.
Noa, the black Labrador, is a well-behaved dog with a strong maternal instinct. She shows this trait when she adopts a stray kitten, protects it, and stops stray cats from trying to hurt it. Even though she must avoid Lupin, Noa still gets along with him and the humans Teppei and Suguri as well. She gets her name from the French word for black: noir. On her pedigree papers, her name reads Cappuccino.
Near the end of the series, in Volume 14, she has puppies with a Golden Labrador called John. She accepted him for this process well. She had five golden puppies and two black puppies. Teppei wanted to keep one of her black puppies to remind him of Noa, but he wasn’t able to. He had to give it up so it could become a service dog, even though John’s owner took one of Noa’s golden puppies. The entire situation didn’t seem all that fair!
Inubaka: Crazy for Dogs ran from 2004 until 2010. In 2011, it went on hiatus, with many people suspecting it had been canceled in North America. It may have still run overseas.
Dog Name Ending in 'oa' Considerations
Not everyone is fortunate to have the perfect name for their dog come to them randomly. For most people, it can take a lot of time and thought to choose the right one. Even when you’re trying to come up with dog names ending in "oa", the same rules apply. It may come to you quickly, or you have to factor in several considerations to narrow it down to the winning name.
If you are having a hard time, think about the name or word meaning, your dog’s personality traits, and their gender. When you consider all three of these points, you may have a far easier time of selecting the best dog name ending in "oa". For example, Boa tends to be more of a male’s name, so you possibly wouldn’t give it to a female dog. However, names like Toa, Loa, and Soa, could all be unisex words and names. If you intend on using a word or name that has specific meanings, make sure they are suitable for your dog’s personality. Koa means a fearless man, making it more suitable for a male dog. As you can see, there is much to consider before you discover the right dog name.
