Introduction
Dog Names Ending in 'ke' in Pop Culture
Jake was a black Labrador Retriever with a heart of gold. He was a hero who worked as a search and rescue dog, a loyal and loving furiend to everyone who knew him, and a much-loved member of the family to his owner and handler Mary Flood. Together they served as part of the Utah Task Force One for nine years. However, Jake did not start out with such a happy beginning.
This superhero pup was found on the side of the road abandoned with serious injuries including a broken leg and dislocated hip when he was about ten months old. He was brought to a nearby shelter where he was adopted by Mary shortly after he was healed and ready to be adopted. Mary noticed that he had a limp, but it did not seem to bother him or slow him down any.
When Jake was fully recovered, Mary decided to train Jake to be a federal search and rescue dog for the United States Government. Even with his previous injuries and obvious abuse, Jake was able to be certified as one of the less than 200 dogs who are trained to respond to disasters within 24 hours. They are deployed to disasters like avalanches, terrorist attacks, water rescues, wilderness search and rescues, earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes.
His first big job was the September 11th terrorist attacks at Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center in New York City. Although they knew there was not much of a chance that they would find many survivors, Jake and Mary spent 17 days digging through the hot and sharp debris at the attack site. He was treated as the hero he was, being treated to a free steak dinner at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan on the night that they arrived in New York.
The pair also helped in search and rescue efforts in Mississippi after the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster. They drove over 30 hours to get there to help search for survivors and victims of the hurricane and stayed for several days. They were also deployed to the Gulf Coast to search for victims of Hurricane Rita.
Over the years, the pair has assisted in dozens of search and rescues, and Jake also trained younger pooches who were learning to be rescue dogs. Jake also worked at local nursing homes in Utah as a therapy dog and at a camp for burn victims. Jake finally retired in 2006 when he was diagnosed with cancer, which the veterinarians believe may have been caused by the unhealthy air at Ground Zero.
Dog Names Ending in 'ke' Considerations
It took you some time to find the best dog for your family so of course, it's pawsitively going to take a lot of time and consideration to find the right name. Some people may just go with a name inspired by their dog’s coat color like Blackie for a black dog or Red for a red dog. Then there are those who will choose a name according to their pup’s breed. For example, a Collie may get the name Lassie, and a Golden Retriever may be named Buddy after the Air Bud films. There are other options such as naming your dog for the texture of their coat like Curly or Fluffy.
Many dog owners are now taking the time to spend time getting to know their dog before choosing a name. This way, you may be able to get a sense of your canine kid’s personality, funny quirks, and habits. If they are hyper, you may name them Chaos or if they are Droopy if they are extremely laid back and lazy. But what if you want to name your dog after someone or something you love?
