Introduction
Fairytales will never go out of style. When we were kids, we were reading and watching and listening about the adventures of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin, and Quasimodo. We did grow up, but our imagination is still running wild, constructing crazy stories about these characters who are near and dear to our hearts. However, the new generations also have their versions of these iconic characters, in the form of their children and grandchildren, in the fantasy tv movie Descendants! Who said that Maleficent’s daughter, Jafar’s son, and Belle and Beast’s son, and Ursula’s daughter couldn’t find common grounds!
Descendants Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
One of the most beloved dogs in the history of animated movies is Bruno, the lovable and lazy pup from Cinderella. In the original Cinderella film, we can see Bruno pretty much sleeping all the time, lovingly looking up to our main protagonist with gorgeous puppy eyes, smiling at everyone, and generally being the nicest guy in the world. His first ever scene was of him sleeping and dreaming that he was chasing Lucifer, Cinderella’s stepmom’s evil cat, which is not surprising considering who his owner is. Cinderella wakes up the sleepy doggo and tells him that he needs to be nice to Lucifer, that he is not all bad, and that he should learn to be nice to him, even though he is a cat and a bit mean. Lucifer cannot accept this because he knows what Lucifer is like, often pretending that Bruno hurt him so the dog would be sent outside.
When Cinderella was upset after Drizella and Anastasia ruined her dress, Bruno and Major are sad for her that she cannot go to the ball. He tries to cheer her up, but at that point, the Fairy Godmother appears and saves the day! She turns Bruno into a footman for Cinderella’s coach, and he is responsible for taking her to the ball. When Fairy Godmother’s spell is broken, Bruno turns back to a dog and runs away from the guards who were chasing after them when they were leaving the palace. He is such a good friend and does not mind being transformed to another species for the sake of Cinderella, and he is so happy that she got to have fun for one night, and forget about her hard life and horrible conditions she’s living in.
When Cinderella is locked in her bedroom, Jaq and Gus try to free her by stealing the key from Lady Tremaine, but Lucifer traps Gus under a teacup. Cinderella realizes that Bruno is the only one who can help her and get rid of Lucifer at this point, so she tells the birds to get him so he can finally do what he always wanted – catch Lucifer once and for all! He growls pretty loudly, which is quite untypical for such a pacifist doggo and manages to scare Lucifer away, freeing Cinderella from her room. Bruno, the brave dog, is now one of the heroes of Auradon, and still friends with Cinderella, Jaq, and Gus, and has puppies of his own!
Descendants Inspired Dog Name Considerations
If you, like the rest of our generation, and the next one as well, were inspired by fairytales and Disney cartoons when you were a kid, you may find Descendants very interesting to watch. While you do it, you may decide to name your doggo after one of the characters from the movie, which is a task that is not easy, only because there are so many names to choose from. Descendants is an amalgamation of all of our favorite Disney animated films, so you can imagine that almost all of your most beloved characters will be in it.
So, where to start? You can take the logical route and start with the famous dogs that appear in the musical. We have Dude the Dog, who helps Carlos Oscar De Vil, son of Cruella De Vil, overcome his fear of dogs that his mother instilled in him. We have Pongo and Perdita, two lovely Dalmatians, one goofy and mischievous, one ladylike and elegant, parents of 101 little Dalmatians. Tramp is another lovely dog that appears in the movie, but you can also opt for the name Sebastian, after the most famous crab in the world, or maybe Flotsam or Jetsam, after the evil eels from The Little Mermaid.
