Crisis on Infinite Earths Dog Names

Another dog that was shown to be in good health by the end of the Earth-shattering event was Ace the Bathound. Even if you've never heard of Ace, you've probably been able to figure out that he and the World's Greatest Detective are closely linked. During the time Crisis on Infinite Earths took place, Batman had trained Ace to be able to fight crime on his own, more or less; Ace was able to operate complex pieces of equipment, navigate the entirety of Gotham on his own, and face off against a number of Batman's foes unaided. Ace was also a member of the animal equivalent of the Justice League at this time, serving as the group's stoic second in command alongside his good friend Krypto the Superdog. 

As with Ace, folks who haven't ever heard of Krypto the Superdog will nevertheless be likely to connect the dots and discern that Krypto shares a link with Superman. This link is deeply rooted in Superman's past, as Krypto was actually his family's dog back on their home planet. Superman's Father placed Krypto in an escape pod - similar to the sort of pod that Superman and his cousin Kara would be placed in - before ejecting the dog off of their doomed homeworld. Krypto's pod would end up getting knocked off course, leaving the dog stranded in space for years. By the time his pod finally reached Earth, Superman was merely a Superboy. Nevertheless, the two reunited and fought crime together as a family. 

Pooch, Ace, and Krypto each had varying degrees of involvement during the events on Crisis but it's worth noting that these canine characters were each implied to have saved a number of lives off screen. Though they didn't get to stand in the spotlight as much as their human and humanoid companions were able to, these dogs nonetheless did their part during one of the DC Universe's most trying events.
