Introduction
This film is about a young boy who lives on Earth, but one with an alternate history from what we have today. It takes place sometime between the years of 1868-1900, but this world is full of mechanical wonders that are slightly off. Such as pirate flaptors and islands that float in the sky. Daily life goes by with nothing too unexpected, aside from the occasional attack by air pirates, until one day the main character, Pazu, stumbles across a strange site; a young girl ascending from the sky with nothing to aid her except for a crystal necklace. This crystal is the Secret of Laputa, which many have been searching for, for generations. Laputa is the flying Castle and it is there that the children race to return the crystal. On their journey they encounter Dola's gang (a group of air pirates lusting after the crystal), Colonel Muska's agents (the main antagonist of the movie), and many other obstacles that are all out to stop them and steal away the precious treasure.
It is through loyalty and determination that the children hope to prevail in their quest. The movie is inspiring, just like many of Miyazaki's films, with beautiful music and breathtaking art that truly captures the heart; no matter how old the watcher may be.
Castle in the Sky Dog Names in Pop Culture
Of course, when Skye arrived at their home and both sides of his face could be seen, his adoptive family received quite the shock. Instead of the perfect pooch they were expecting, an injured and frightened dog stepped through the door. Although some might have sent Skye back without a second thought, this family fell in love with him instantly and began the process of trying to save him. The extent of his injuries were not a simple fix, what with his jaw being sealed shut to the point where he could not eat and inflammation that was causing him a great deal of pain, and no vet in Germany was willing to take him; the only fate they decided was fit for Skye, was to be put down.
The young couple who adopted Skye were not quite ready to go down that path, and exhausted every resource they could until, finally, they found a vet in Spain who went by the name of Viktor Larkhill. Viktor was willing to tackle Skye's case and with a number of surgeries and much prayer, Skye survived a surgery that had never been done on a dog before. He is now able to open his mouth and eat! His injuries have healed and while he will never be a whole dog again in the terms of anatomy, his heart and home is full of love and support from amazing owners who cherish him. Skye's story could have ended in tragedy, with him being forgotten and alone in his injured state. Most likely he wouldn't have survived. But his strong will and the love of those who care for him made all the difference in the world, and he now has a second chance at an amazing life. Thank goodness for happy endings!
