Introduction
Cars Dog Names in Pop Culture
One famous Lightning was a silent film star during the 1930s. He was a German Shepherd with a rocky beginning. Lightning was the least of the litter, the runt. However, Lightning would grow to be rather large compared to other German Shepherds. He appeared in a total of nine silent films, ranging from The Case of the Howling Dog to Blind Alibi. Lightning played alongside such greats as Cary Grant. He was known for his intelligence and trainability.
Another dog (or dogs, rather) associated with the name Lightning is actually multiple dogs. This group of dogs is called the Lightning Dogs, a group of cartoon dogs featured on The Nerdy Show. The Lightning Dogs travel in a pack. They are inspired by post-apocalyptic, 1980s films such as Mad Max. The chief enemy of the Lightning Dogs is the Glampire (who is also inspired by the 1980s). The Lightning Dogs often travel in hot rods inspired, once again, by the Mad Max movies. The area in which they live and fight Glampire is known as the Wasteland. Their purpose is to defeat Glampire and his followers; furthermore, they do not want Glampire's influence to reach other planets.
The Lightning Dogs were actually created by accident. The Nerdy Show creators incorporated them in one episode, and fans fell in love with the new characters. Fans began to send in art regarding the Lightning Dogs, and fans even sent in ideas for another episode. The Lightning Dogs have appeared in a total of five episodes, with fans begging for more!
Cars Dog Name Considerations
Since, Cars is inspired by the sport of racing, dogs that have traditionally been known for their penchant for speed might be suited to a Cars-inspired name. The Greyhound is a dog known for its record-breaking speeds. The Whippet is also known for its great speed. In fact, the Whippet can meet speeds of at least thirty-five miles per hour. However, there are some surprisingly fast dogs that aren't necessarily found on the race track. The Viszla is a quick-footed hunting dog. He has been known to reach speeds of more than twenty miles per hour. Another very surprisingly fast pooch is the Great Dane, whose long limbs push him to thirty miles an hour.
