Capital City Dog Name Considerations

Naming your dog after a capital city doesn’t need to be as cut and dry as simply selecting a city and bestowing that exact name on your pup (although, there’s nothing wrong with that). You can take every aspect of the city into account when you are brainstorming names.

Consider things like historical figures from that city; books, movies, or television shows that were set there; tourist attractions, famous landmarks; festivals the city may be host to; noteworthy events that have transpired there; pop culture figures that originate from that city; a traditional food originating in that city. You may even consider fictional characters from capital cities!

The great thing about a capital city inspired name is that it can work for any size, breed, or gender of dog. Some dog breeds, like the Boston Terrier, Havanese, or Lhasa Apso are already named after their cities of origin, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow suit! It could be fun to play with the irony of naming your Havanese pup something like Paris!  As you can see, the possibilities for naming your dog after a capital city are practically endless, but here are a few suggestions to get you started.
