Brilliance Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Chaser was trained by John W. Pilley. Pilley was a retired Wofford College professor and psychologist. Pilley passed away June 17, 2018. Now Chaser lives with Pilley's relatives Sally and Robin Pilley. They have been a part of Chaser's life since she was a puppy. They are currently writing a second book about her which will be entitled, "A World of Chaser."
The training that Chaser received by the late Pilley is impressive. She can correctly recognize common nouns. Also, she has been shown to understand sentences and also learn various behaviors based on imitation. According to scientists, emulation requires an imagination which is something that many in the scientific community believed that canines lacked. However, Chaser has proven that theory wrong because she has the vision and the ability to imitate.
When Pilley was asked how he managed to teach Chaser so many words, he said that 'play' had a lot to do with her learning process. Chaser has always loved to play games. Her favorite game is running up the stairs into the loft of the house. Once in the loft, she would nose one of her toys over the top step and down the stairs. She would then wait for someone to throw the toy back up into the loft to her. This activity was Chaser's unique way of playing the classic dog game of fetch.
Pilley explained that before Chaser would learn words that they had to have a specific meaning to her. She loves to play so the words had to be used while playing or doing some fun activity so that she could grasp their meaning.
In Pilley's book, 'Chaser: Unlocking the Genius of the Dog Who Knows a Thousand Words,' Pilley explained that he worked with Chaser at least five hours per day for three years to build her diverse vocabulary.
Fetching and finding her toys around the house taught her to understand the names of the different toys and items. Typically, the name of each toy had to be said at least 40 times, and the game of fetch for that specific item had to be repeated 20 times before she would firmly learn the word. Once she knew the word, she did not forget it, and Pilley was able to move on to teaching her the next word.
Nowadays, many consider Chaser 'the smartest dog in the world.'
Brilliance Inspired Dog Names
Your dog probably listens carefully to every word that you say, and even though your buddy can't speak on their own, they can understand words. Research has shown that the average dog grasps 185 words and truly brilliant dogs can decipher over 200 individual words and their meanings.
If you want to name your dog a moniker that denotes brilliance then why not choose Einstein after the great scientist, Albert Einstein? You could also choose Alvis for a boy which means 'all knowing and brilliant.' If your canine is a female, then you could pick, Albie, which means, 'a bright and brilliant being.' The name Monisha is another female handle that means brilliance.
