Introduction
How many times did you wish you could be a fierce warrior princess with a fabulous sidekick who saves the world from monsters? How many times did you wish you could do all the acrobatics that said warrior princess does, all with ease, grace, and style? If the answer to these questions is – many times, and since the 21st century does not allow us to carry cold weapons wherever we go (not to mention the shortage of monsters) the next best thing is to satisfy your sense of adventure by watching one of the most iconic anime of all time – Blood+. While you’re following the adventures of Otonashi Saya and her sidekick Haji, you might get inspired to name your new furry sidekick by one of the characters from this amazing show.
Blood+ Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
The star of today has an equally starry name – Diva. First off, the character from Blood+ is the main antagonist and (gasp) Saya’s twin! Diva is one of the meanest characters in anime that you will see. Her childhood (or her first fifty years of life) have been horrible. She was held in a cage, she was used as a test subject in various experiments, but despite all that, she found enough kindness in her heart to sing the most beautiful melodies in the world – hence the name. She was awakened from her slumber during the Russian Revolution when Amshel decided it was time for her to wake again. In 2005, she awoke from her hibernation again, only to become Saya’s worst enemy and the main antagonist of the show.
However, there is another, utterly sweet creature who shares the name with the evil Diva and that is Diva the Staffordshire who gave us something amazing – the gift of life. There are only a few miracles in this world that we can witness during our lifetimes, and one of them is the miracle of birth. In comes Diva. The lovely doggo was pregnant to her teeth when she went into labor to give birth to the fruit of love that bloomed between her and the handsome mixed Shepherd Joey. Diva and Joey made thirteen little miracles that puffed up her belly and sent her on the magical journey of pregnancy!
When the time for delivery came, the rookie mom had some trouble popping out her first baby, having to take little breaks from time to time. As nature wanted it, she had a long way to go before she could rest, but thankfully her owners were there to help her give birth to 12 more puppers by helping rip the sacs the little doggos were in.
One at a time, the tiny babies popped out of their mom and immediately went over to her side so they could drink the nutritious milk and build up their strength. The momma cuddled her babies, licked them, and was so proud of her accomplishments, probably planning out their lives together as a big happy family! Now, all we want to know is how did Joey feel when he figured out he was to become a dad of 13! That must be a hard job for a doggo!
Blood+ Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Thinking about the perfect name for your doggo can be a tough task. What if you choose the name that is too silly? What if the name is too sober? What if it doesn’t fit with their personality? And what if it is just common, so commonplace that when you call after them, 10 other dogs appear in front of you? Well, if you decide to go the smart way and draw inspiration from anime, especially Blood+, at least the last concern won’t be a concern anymore. With a plethora of characters, compelling backstories, and unique names, finding the perfect moniker for your pup will be as easy as a walk in the park! First off, you can pick the name of the main character – Saya. Saya is the name that will fit a mighty and independent doggo, the one who cares about their family and the one who is ready to jump through hoops to save the world from impending doom. The other extreme is to name the doggo Diva. Diva is the main antagonist of the series, but the name can fit a determined doggo, the one who is not afraid to go after the thing they want, the one who is a little bit of a diva too, and the one who is always elegant and beautiful, even when times are tough.
