Introduction

Often, having children can be the catalyst that causes a person to learn what the meaning of responsibility truly is. Such is the case in the 1999 Adam Sandler film, Big Daddy. This film is the story of the lackadaisical Sonny Koufax, who, at age 32, has never really taken life seriously. Suddenly, this all changes when little Julian shows up at Sonny's door. Sonny is determined to show his girlfriend that he can be responsible, and, along the way, Sonny falls in love with little Julian. This film is a story of how little children can bring out the best in all of us, even those who might not quite be ready for the responsibilities of parenthood at the time.

Big Daddy Inspired Dog Name Considerations

While there are no dogs featured in Big Daddy, actor Adam Sandler has a penchant for four-legged furry friends. In fact, Sandler seems to love English Bulldogs the best. Sandler has kept an English Bulldog as a member of the family for nearly two decades.

Sandler purchased Meatball in 2000. Meatball and Sandler became fast friends. In fact, when Sandler married his spouse, then Janet Teton, Meatball served as the best man at Sandler's wedding. Meatball was all decked out in a tuxedo. He "carried" the couple's rings up the aisle. He also earned the status of "Guest of Honor" at the wedding. Unfortunately, Meatball only lived for four years, passing in 2004 as the result of a heart attack (something English Bulldogs might be prone to). Sandler paid homage to his friend by hosting a memorial service. (Meatball starred alongside Sandler in Little Nicky, a 2000 film.

Sandler soon brought home another English Bulldog; this furry friend was given the name Matzoball. Matzoball was adopted rather than purchased. Sandler is known for taking Matzoball along almost anywhere - even as a guest on the David Letterman night-time talk show! A fan of Big Daddy can find inspiration in the characters of the show as well as in the pups mentioned here. Peruse our list for ideas!
