Introduction
Beyblade is a Japanese manga and anime series created by Takao Aoki, originally made to promote the spinning tops called Beyblades. The series focuses on a group of children who form teams to battle each other using their toys, and the story has several arcs, first of which features some interesting characters. Tyson enters the official Japanese Regional Beyblade Qualifying Tournament, where he meets Ray Kon and Kai Hiwatari, and together they form a team called Bladebreakers, and invite Max and Kenny to join them. They go on a tour in China where they battle the White Tigers, Ray’s old team, but manage to win and take home the great prize. And there, the story unfolds.
Beyblade Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Many popular manga and anime series feature some animal, usually the talking kind which is often wise, ancient, and full of knowledge that helps the main character evolve, learn something new, or find a path in a hopeless place. Usually, those animals are highly skilled in something, and they have mastered the things the hero needs to master to defeat the enemy, win a tournament, or discover something that has been lost for a long time. Beyblade is no different in that sense since it also features a talking animal, only this time a dog named Hokuto.
Hokuto is a talking dog that has his cameo in Beyblade: Metal Fusion and Beyblade: Metal Masters. He is a small white dog with a black headband, although only in anime, in the manga, he sports an orange bandana with the Libra symbol and a blue cape. In the manga, his paws and the inside of his ears are green, but in the anime, he is gray all over, except the tan colored ears and jaw. When he is angry, which is almost always, Hokuto kind of looks like a cat, but do not be fooled, he is a true doggo.
He is Hyoma’s pet and resides in the Koma Village. He is very serious and almost always a little agitated, especially when someone asks him a stupid question, but he seems to like Madoka Amano, the girl whose parents own a Beyblade shop, who can also repair and analyze the Beyblades. His childhood friends are Gingka and Hyoma, and he was also on good terms with Ryo Hagane, Gingka’s father.
In the anime, he is the guardian of the Koma Village, and whenever a foreigner comes in, he calls after them using his deep voice and tells them to leave the city and never come back. Even though he seems a bit agoraphobic, Hokuto’s role is to be the voice of reason and an adviser to the elders, even though he is so cute that Madoka cannot resist but to pet him. Even though he fights it, he cannot resist Madoka’s charm and allows her to do that every time.
In the manga, Hokuto begins as a mysterious figure in a long cloak and takes care of Gingka after he is too exhausted from his battles. He also protects Kenta and his team in a wooden shack and reveals his true identity when he uses a Launcher Grip for his Libra DF145BS at the enemy to protect the sleeping Gingka.
Beyblade Inspired Dog Name Considerations
When it comes to naming your dog after a character from a tv series, movie, anime, or manga, you should listen to your heart instead of what is written in the forums. No dog breed is entitled to Beyblade names, no matter how big or small they are. However, if you want to stay true to the source, for your small, grey doggo you can pick the name Hokuto, after the mysterious and wise dog that seems to know it all when it comes to Blade battles.
For your sweetheart that just cannot get any cuter, you can pick the name Honey, after Honey Guten, Sasha’s younger sister and a junior member of BC Sol, whose name can totally be misread as Gluten, and if you do so, your dog will end up with the funniest name ever! Kai Hiwatari, the former leader of the Blade Sharks, leader of the G Revolutions, and member of Blitzkrieg Boys has a sweet name you can borrow for your furry friend, and Ming-Ming is a pop diva on her rise to fame who works for Boris in the BEGAL League, whose name is perfect for your little superstar!
