Introduction
The Berger des Pyrenees is a medium-sized dog that is lean and lively. Being a herding breed, they have to be tough and athletic. They are a unique breed and are not extremely popular, but people who know what the Berger des Pyrenees is, absolutely adore this lively dog. Because of their scraggly appearance, most people seeing them for the first time think they are not purebred. The Berger des Pyrenees makes an excellent family dog as long as they are given plenty of opportunity to get out and stretch their legs. This is a very active breed that needs a significant amount of exercise.

Zed’s registered name, Germinal de La Brise was chosen because germinal is one of the months found on the French revolutionary calendar.
Zed comes from the La Brise kennel in Ohio. The Princehouse family began with the Great Pyrenees in the early 1970s. The daughter, Patricia, asked her parents for a dog that was as big as a horse and they found Soleil and Balibasque, two Great Pyrenees. Patricia and her brother, Stephen, started participating in 4-H projects that worked with sheep; they soon began using their Great Pyrenees to herd their flock of sheep. However, in 1979, Patricia was able to spend two months in France through a high school summer program. She went to the Paris championship dog show while there and fell in love with the Berger des Pyrenees. While in France, she joined the Great Pyrenees Club of France (RACP). She returned to Ohio with a dream of owning a Berger des Pyrenees. The Princehouses were able to import in Patoune du Grand Baou. Patoune and then in the course of several years imported in ten Berger des Pyrenees. The Princehouse family has produced several Berger des Pyrenees that have gone on to compete around the globe. Patricia continues to spend time in France learning more about the Berger des Pyrenees. She has become a lifetime honorary member of the RACP.
