Introduction
Remember to make a note of the names that stand out to you, and to read the meanings of each very closely. A dog's name should match its owner, so you don't want to make the mistake of naming them with something completely out of left field!
Beijing Dog Names in Pop Culture
And there are few pets quite as amazing and straight-up sensational as Paddington, the Chinese Shar-Pei. The popular Tasmanian pooch got his Instagram fame when he hit over 40,000 followers, all eagerly watching him model the most adorable, yet stylish, doggy outfits or just lounging with his loving human companion, Annie Jacob.
Among some of the things he wears are costumes from Wallace and Gromit, onesies, glasses, capes and paper hats. He enjoys dressing up as the Cookie Monster, dinosaurs, bunny rabbits, sharks, professors, unicorns and more. When posed in front of white backgrounds, as is Annie's go-to theme, the images have a striking, clean, and playful feel about them. It pairs beautifully with Paddington's Chinese Shar-Pei soft grey coat.
It's clear that Annie loves Paddington. She adopted him when he was still a puppy, and often describes him as "a little bag of wrinkles with a black button nose." She had no plans to make any dog Instagram famous at the time, but of course, it wound up happening anyway! And how could it not, with his loving grey, wrinkly face, and now pink nose, which surely changed colors as he got older.
These days, Paddington has 93.3k followers, and 1,886 posts. They post their daily adventures, including the ones with his beloved kitty friends named Butler, Harold, London and Sailor, all of whom are Annie's pet cats. It seems as though all five animals get along just fine. There's even one picture on the Instagram account that features Paddington wearing a Cookie Monster hoodie, while lying down next to one of the cats, Butler, who of course, is holding a cookie toy. They not only look perfectly comfy, but adorable. But that goes without saying, really.
But the best image, and one of the most liked on Instagram, is the one of Paddington sitting on Annie's bed, while wearing a lion mane. The four cats sit beside him, so he's right in the middle, and look out the window with him. He's one of the cats, and they are doggy-adopted kitties, so all in all, it proves that family isn't always biological. If you haven't checked out Paddington the Chinese Shar-Pei and the four cats yet, what are you waiting for?
Beijing Dog Name Considerations
On one hand, no one is saying you shouldn't go with an adorable name, but it should certainly match the dog. A giant Siberian Husky, for instance, shouldn't be named "Pipsqueak," unless you're intentionally striving to be ironic, in which case, there's still better options out there.
The other mistake involves some research. Clearly, you're interested in foreign names, more specifically, names that are popular in Beijing. That's good, and you're on the right track by just being here! The more you read up on these foreign names, and the more that you learn what they mean, the better you can gauge which ones would actually be appropriate for your dog.
Remember, keep things relevant. Think of your dog's breed, size, age, gender, even favorite toys, hobbies, or games. Some dogs love fetch, others don't even know where to begin to fetch. Your dog is one-of-a-kind and should be celebrated as such. Above all, remember to have some fun! This is your best friend, and you should be able to enjoy every process of having a dog companion.
