Rufie is the dog owned by Albert, a plantar traveler who can be met in the Fire Leaf Forest, south of Nahkel. Albert first shows up as a human child looking for his dog. Once he rejoined with him, he reverts to his true form, an Ogre Mage and Pit Fiend. He then uses a Dimension Door to transport himself and Rufie to the Nine Hells, a lower plane inhabited by lawful evil outsiders known as Devils.

So, imagine helping a sweet little boy find his dog, only to then witness him turn into a massive orge who opens a portal to hell. How nice!

What makes this even funnier is the fact that Rufie really is a wolf dog. And he's bound to be super hostile unless you approach him with his chew toy, which Albert himself gives to you when you agree to return with his dog.

Most players felt a little iffy about the whole quest by this point. Maybe not so much when they first bump into Albert and agree to help him, but certainly once they receive the chew toy. It is made up of ragged scraps of flesh that hang from a mangled bone. A bone from what? Well it's anybody's guess. If you read the description it said "you think you can detect a few metal fragments amidst the gore, but it is hard to be sure."

Surely by this point, players were a little on edge about the whole thing, but if anything, they suspected Rufie to be the hostile, unexpected character. In a sense, they were right. With a name like Rufie, did you expect a wolf? A wolf that was ready to tear your face off unless you greeted him with his gory bone of unknown origin?

Still, players continued with the mission, to finish it. They thought the surprises were over, but a few smart people probably suspected the little boy by this point... Because how could a little boy have a violent, ferocious wolf as a pet? What was wrong with this picture? Well, let's put it this way: despite knowing something was coming, no one was prepared to see Albert in his true form, opening a portal to hell.
