Introduction
Austin & Ally Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Many pet parents view their dogs as members of the family. For some, however, a dog is more than a companion or a family member. Consider veterans with service dogs. Some members of the military were in platoons with a bomb-sniffing dog, and they will tell you that the dog saved their lives. Some veterans experience PTSD and are given therapy dogs to help deal with the issue. Some of these individuals will say that these dogs saved their lives. One man credits his guide dog with saving his life.
John Tovey credits his seeing-eye dog Dez with bringing him out of a very desperate time in life. Tovey lost his sight after a life of bad decisions. John spent time in the juvenile detention center, and he was eventually in prison due to participating in gang activity. John finally decided to make a change after he was beaten severely by a rival gang. He had gotten a job, purchased a home, and was making up for the crimes he had committed. John suddenly went blind at the age of forty-two, and he quickly lost the job and home he had worked so hard to get.
But, thankfully, John was able to find some assistance with the organization Guide Dogs for the Blind. This group helped match John with a black Labrador Retriever named Dez. Dez did more than just keep his owner safe and guide him as he was out and about, Dez "brought life back to his owner's life." Dez won Guide Dog of the Year in 2012. Tovey wrote a book about his experience titled, A Dog Called Dez.
Austin & Ally Inspired Dog Name Considerations
While Austin and Ally are more focused on their careers and their personal relationship, the pair does have close friends in Dez and Trish. However, due to their busy lifestyles, they do not have a dog to call their own. Many fans began to notice a pup appearing in photos regularly. To be sure, this is not a pup that appears on the show. This sweet pup is Pixie, and she might not be a part of the cast, but she steals the spotlight wherever she goes.
Pixie is a Cavapoo pup. (Cavapoos are a hybrid breed; they are a mix of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle (usually the miniature Poodle variety). Pixie actually belongs to dialogue coach on the set, L J. Pixie has appeared in many of the Austin and Ally live stream broadcasts, but she is not a member of the regular cast. However, most of the cast admit to a great affection for Pixie even if she is not a true member of the Austin and Ally family. Choosing to name your pup after Pixie could honor the show, as would choosing to tag your dog after a favorite character.
