Introduction

The story of the lost continent of Atlantis has captured our imaginations since the first account of it was written by Plato in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias around 360 BC. The people of Atlantis were said to be a technologically advanced utopian society that lived 9000 years before the time of Plato, with a powerful military force, especially their Naval force. They controlled land not only on Atlantis itself but also land in Europe and Egypt, subjecting the native people of those places to slavery. Shortly after the Athenian people deflected the warlike people of Atlantis, the continent was said to have suffered many violent earthquakes, causing it to sink and disappear under the ocean in a single day and night.

Atlantis Dog Name Considerations

There are many things to take into consideration when choosing a suitable name for your new canine companion. It is best to choose a name that is easy for the members of your household to pronounce and one that can be easily distinguished from the command words that you plan on utilizing to train them. This will help to ensure that your dog clearly understands when you are speaking to them and can also improve training time by preventing confusion during training sessions. Although all the names on this list are related in some way to the legendary continent of Atlantis, there are several ways in which to narrow down the list and pick the perfect name for your pooch. Some of the names on the list may fit your dog by appearance, such as Chalkos or Copper for a reddish brown dog or for a white dog, Crystal or Silver. Your dog’s behavior may also play a role in choosing the right name, a dog who loves to dig might be given a name like Mole or Seismos while a swimmer may be better suited with a name like Poseidon, Krini, or even Tsunami. Fans of the Jules Verne novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea choose Nautilus from the list while those with a fondness for Disney movies may prefer Milo or Kida instead.
