Antalya Dog Names in Pop Culture
A stray dog was found in the corner of a street in Antalya, three months after surviving being shot. The pup was found by Mujgan and Mehmet Orhan, who live in the southern province of the Konyalati district in Antalya. The couple was out in their neighborhood feeding stray cats when they encountered the eight-year-old canine. Upon noticing her buckshot wounds they took her to the Konyaalti Rehabilitation Center for treatment, where they learned that she had 126 buck shots in her body, which had resulted in lead poisoning, myolysis and spinal cord injuries, as well as a tumor that was the result of her delayed treatment. The couple named the dog Nazli and she underwent several operations to help her.
Mehmet Orhan took Nazli to Burdur for chemotherapy 15 times over a three week period. During the treatment for the tumor, cysts were found in her bladder and she was also found to have splenomegaly. The buckshot also resulted in her losing eye. While test results showed that Nazli would not be able to walk again, Nazli received hours of massage, which led to her legs showing reaction. Mujan explains that the dog was 22 kilograms when she was found and six months after being rescued, she is about 30 kilograms. Unfortunately, the pup still has 50 buckshot pieces in her head as removing the shots can result in more damage. According to Mujgan, “I take care of her like a baby. She is the princess of the house.” Nazli’s story is even featured in a film whose title translates to “Children of the Street”, which is directed by Fatih Ahmet Akinci.
Lara is an area in Antalya that is close to its airport. The city also has a beach known as Lara Beach. A Black Labrador by the name of Lara was Greece’s first officially trained guide dog for those with visual impairment. The special pup became a symbol of the rights of disabled people in Greece, as a result of being the first dog to be trained and provide assistance in 2005. At the time that Lara was receiving her training, the idea of dogs helping people was not well-known in Greece. In fact, the city lacked legislation to protect ones’ rights as well as to allow service dogs into public buildings. Lara, who traveled a lot and met hundreds of people throughout the world, passed away in 2019.
Antalya Dog Name Considerations
