Introduction

One of the other creations from the mind of Family Guy show runner Seth MacFarlane, American Dad first aired on Fox on February 6, 2005. Initially struggling to come into its own as a TV series, American Dad has come a long way throughout the course of its 10 plus years in syndication; the show has come to rely more on its character driven humor and self referential jokes than the cutaways and gags that Family Guy is known for. Each of the characters in American Dad have evolved from being archetypal, two dimensional characters to being multifaceted characters who are genuinely relatable in many respects.

American Dad Dog Name Considerations

As mentioned earlier, the peculiar characters of the American Dad world are the driving forces  behind the show's later, more fleshed out seasons. In fact, that's probably the main reason why these characters have become so appealing throughout the years; they've become more fleshed out and layered as the show has progressed. Stan went from being an incredibly pointed, unaffectionate parody of right wing Conservative jingoism to a more affectionate parody of the contemporary, American Middle Class man,  replete with his own set of insecurities and ideals. Francine and Haley went from being a stereotypical housewife and stoner, rebel daughter to more full realized characters in their own rights. Most of the comedy from the series comes by way of characterization; humor is derived from building up the citizens of Langley Falls and then throwing them into various circumstances. And as the characters get better, the show gets better. Consider your pet's quirks and zaniness and match them to one of the show's characters.

Even minor characters like Stelio Kontos are well known by fans of the show due to the writers' ability to really make each and every character on the show have their own distinct personalities, quirks, and idiosyncrasies. if you're looking for a series that simply has a large number of interesting characters for you to pool dog names from, look no further than American Dad.
