101 Dalmatians Dog Names

101 Dalmatians was first launched as an animated film in 1961 by Walt Disney. It was based on the 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith. The film quickly became an animated success and was re-released four more times all the way up to 1991. Finally, in 1996, a major motion picture, 101 Dalmatians, was released as a live film. It was followed by a sequel called 102 Dalmatians. Recently, Disney has announced that the work is in progress to release a new Dalmatian movie. After the success of the 101 Dalmatian movies throughout the years, a children's animated television series was also launched. It featured all of the same endearing characters as those displayed in the movie. 

Pongo is one of the main characters of a 101 Dalmations. He is a male Dalmatian who is owned by a human named Roger Radcliffe or Roger Dearly. He doesn’t really see Roger as his owner and really considers the human to be more his pet then vice versa. Pongo has been the main character in all of the 101 Dalmatian films, shows, and cartoons. He is easily recognized with his two black ears and his red color. 

Throughout the movies and cartoons, Pongo has always been very well respected for his high intelligence. He has the reputation of being one of the smartest dogs in dogdom. Pongo is a bit of a rebel and never listens to discipline. When the puppies are abducted, he uses the famous Twilight bark to call for help and to rally the dogs throughout the city into action. 

Pongo meets Perdy, a lovely female Dalmatian, and instantly falls in love with her. She gives birth to his 15 puppies. Perdy’s owner falls in love with Pongo’s owner in the movie. By the end of the movie, Pongo, Perdy, and their puppies are living happily with their human owners who eventually get married and start their own human family. 

In the various forms of 101 Dalmatians, Pongo has the unique habit of chewing the wicker of his doggy bed basket whenever he is in deep thought. Pongo is also the witty dog who sets the clock back in the movie so that his owner gets confused about dog walking time and runs into Perdy's owner during the timely dog walk. Pongo's ultimate plan was to have the two humans meet, fall in love, and marry so that he can spend his life with his beloved Perdy. Throughout all of the 101 Dalmatian films and shows, Pongo remains a mainstay. He is also the key pivotal player in all aspects of the film.
